Tedding Hay

Got the 200 out today and borrowed the neighbors tedder because the hay is extra thick this year. Just cut it this a.m. and I can't make it 100 yards before it clogs around the pulleys and belts. Tried higher, lower and each direction around the field. Keeps getting wound around. Any ideas???

Can't see it real well in the pics. Looks like it was made to have stuff get wrapped around it! As far as rigging it to not get bound up maybe get some cardboard and duct tape and make a housing for the belt. Sheet metal would obviously be a better choice than cardoard but since it's not you tedder don't think I would go though to much trouble. Another thought is that you might rake it into windrows to thin it out a little then try to ted it again. good luck

I thought about raking it, might do it in the morning. My neighbor bought it a few years ago and then he sold all his cows. I am thinking I may make an offer on all his equipment he has hinted that he wants me to buy it from him and I think he would sell it well below market value to me as I have helped him hay for my whole life

Let us know how it turns over. I've only been oputting up hay for 10 years. But the one time my rake kept plugging and driving me crazy was when I was tring to rake at 7:00 am. I finally quit. Went back out at 10:30 and raked like crazy.

The tedder worked much better this PM. Went a little faster on ground speed and kicked the teeth back one notch. Only had 1 big snarl up and that was when I had to slow down to make a corner .
