My Super A is leaking like a seive from the bottom of the differential/rear axle case where it attaches to the transmission case.
This is a new tractor to me - and I know nothing about the innards here. I've looked at various cross sections in manuals, but figured I'd check here before diving in.
First of all, I'm assuming there shouldn't be anything in there TO leak, as that's where the brake drum is.
So therefore I'm assuming I have a bad seal in the transmission case where the differential shaft goes through, and that's where the oil is coming from.
So I'm figuring I have to pull the differential shaft and change the seal - perhaps redi-sleeve the shaft if it's badly worn?
By the way, this is on the left side of the tractor - the short side.
So I'm thinking all I have to do is prop the tractor up securely - pull the wheel off - then take the bolts out for the differential case from the transmission and pull it all straight out...
Assuming this is how I'd change the brake linings, so it can't be THAT hard to get in there... right?
or am I fooling myself that this will be a fairly easy job?
Any tips, tricks, issues to avoid, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
