M belt pully gear

Will any year belt pully gear system work on a 1939 or 40 M? I know the PTO's are different. Thanks. Buck

I've got a very nice one that came off of a '39 according to the casting code. It is slightly different from the later gear boxes. The lever points the opposite direction.
