Random fast hitch planters

Looking through some of my old farm pics I found some fast hitch implements. Can you identify? Is it cool?

They don't belong to me and I didn't know what I was looking at when I took the picture. Now that I have been schooled in Farmalls looking back at the picture I recognized a fast hitch implement.

Would it be worth restoring? I know the farmer well enough that he may part with them if I want to fix them.

Are they worth restoring? Are parts readily available? I know nothing about planters other than cole has been out for years and years.
 
I don't know if they are worth restoring, but if you do decide to do it, the project shouldn't be too hard. The planters in your picture look to be all there, so that would make the it an easier undertaking. Depending on where you live, plates can be hard to get. It uses a standard chain, and the gears can probably be bought somewhere, or cannibalized off the other planter.

You might want to try covington planters, I think they bought out Cole. In a neigbors barn I have a fast hitch planter. They used a fast hitch New Holland toolbar for a 140 and mounted 2 cole planters. Looking up new units for mine is a future project was were I came across covington.
I have some of the original papers that came with mine, I am willing to copy and mail them to you if needed.
 
Cole fast hitch planters are pretty valuable.

Cole still has a website out there, and I think they still make the MX12 or 12MX or whatever it is... I don't remember the exact site name offhand so you'll have to google it.
