Farmall Super A Generator Bearing

I"ve got a 1948 super a. The generator ball bearing is completely gone, and I"m trying to find a replacment. (original 6v generator)

I see several generator rebuild kits online with the bearing, but I would really like to get the generator back in this weekend. I don"t want to wait for the parts.

Does anybody know the exact size of the bearing, or even better a cross reference part # to a bearing I could pick up at a local auto parts store?

If your bearing was gone, you had no way of knowing the number! So your inquiry was perfect. Sometimes we forget that common knowledge to some is uncommon to others. I choose to not get excited by the sometimes terse replies. Please feel welcome here. Jim

It's a very common bearing. Just about every generator, no matter the make, used the same bearing and also quite a few alternators. If the behind the parts counter has trouble, just tell him you need the front alternator bearing for a 1976 Ford F-100.
 
Good to get the information here and usually replies are helpful and friendly. To those who are omniscient, the superior knowledge must be an empowering asset and no doubt brings many benefits, but humility is definitely not one of them.
