I got this tractor from a friend who passed. Took some pictures of it in the greenhouse today. The hour meter shows 3426 hours.
Havent decided what i should do with it yet. restore it or leave it original. <ahref="http://s11.photobucket.com/albums/a193/mgt379/?action=view&current=110608_182359.jpg" target="_blank">

Assuming nothing wrong with engine/transmission/hydraulics....I would

#1 fix the dent in the nose piece

#2 one or two front tires

#3 new seat

#4 a "dupont restoration"

#5 KIND THOUGHTS AND GOOD MEMORIES of a GOOD FRIEND every time you see/ride/work the tractor.

Im thinking im going to definitely replace the two front tires, and the seat. The dent and paint is what im debating about. two generations have put nearly 3500 hours on it. Don't know if i should leave it original.

I'd agree with the tires and seat. Looks to be pretty well taken care of so maybe a little body work and a respray would keep it in functional role, plus be a nice tribute to a passed friend. Just a thought.

Tractors are only original once!!!! Thats the way your friend left it and probably the way he wanted it. Replace the tires and seat to make it useable but don"t paint it.

Keep as is, and be aware that most parts for this tractor can be gotten from your Mahindra dealer at a substantial savings over AGCO.

Hi Pat, you are a very lucky guy to find a totally oridginal tractor like that. It is a Bradfort UK built B275 tractor and as far as i can see everything is right about this tractor. Please, please DO NOT PAINT IT it will just make it like anybody elses painted tractor. I have great respect for the UK built B250, B275 and B414 tractors and if you need to know anything else please ask. MJ

If the paint was original, I would probably take the lazy way out myself.

However, the paint is NOT original. The emblems have been painted over and the hood is a different shade of yellow from the rest of the tractor. Someone did a rattle-can restoration on this machine years ago.

Here's my litmus test: How would your friend react if you took this tractor, cleaned it up, fixed the problems, painted it, and got it looking like new again?

Would he get mad? Most people would CRY tears of JOY to see a beloved old machine looking like new again.

As far as the paint, the tractor may have been yellow originally, but, that is not the original paint. Many items have been painted over, dash, knobs, emblems, that were not originally yellow. I would definitely take out the dents and give it a new paint job and new front tires. You will have a very nice tractor.

Okay, When said original, I mean it came from the dealer like that. The dealer may have repainted it, as it was intended for school use. If I do repaint it, it will most likely be yellow. However It appears that They must have striped the red off of it, as where the yellow isnt or if you sand some yellow off its bare metal, not red.

On the upside, I got it home today which is good

Pat,

It looks like you have a excellent, solid tractor to work with, to whatever extent you want to.

It was repainted before and a really lousy job. Why not do it again, only this time do it right for your old pal. Then show his wife/sister/brother/kids?

I wouldnt say its to lousy, tho only bad part was the emblems and the dash. The hood and gas tank are matching colors, just the gas tank has some diesel on it lol. I may repaint it, not sure if I should go yellow or red though.
