Farmall SA Wiring Harness

The wiring harnesses on my 1951 Super A are all original. Some areas of them are badly frayed, others are still really good. Should I replace the old frayed ones with new ones or is it better to keep everything original when restoring? Everything electrical works. There's no bare wires, just the old fabric cover is frayed in places. How would they be painted?

As long as the wire itself isn't frayed I would leave it alone. It seems to happen to me whenever you take something that's working apart to replace it because you can it never works quite like it did originally

You can buy a wiring harness from this place. Hal
PS: I made my own harness back in 1975 for a Farmall A. I marked every wire to identify where it went and I made them longer.

That's what I want to do, is leave it as much original as I can. But I was thinking how will that look once the tractor is all restored with nice new paint, new seat cover, etc. and old frayed wiring harnesses? Will it matter if I want to show my tractor?

You can take "original" too far. Buy or make another harness. The old one will look junky. I have replaced harnesses on 4 tractors, they look fine. I would, however, stay away from Steiner, their covering looks like a Zebra. I had to use conduit over it, which definitely is not original.
