have an old ih sickle bar that I want to get running
was supposedly run on an H and that's what I plan on running it on. has a hydraulic cylinder. single rear wheel. tin cover over the pto shaft.
anyone know where there may be some pics so i can find out what exactly I have. I can also take some pics of it once my sister brings my camera back.
any help would be great.

I think this one in the photo gallery is a 25 or 27. I have a #31 which is newer, but very similar. Does this look like it?

I believe that is the strongest reminder of my mowing experience. One year my grand dad and I planted timothy on a 12 acre field. (cyclone hand cranked seeders, walking. The weather that year was perfect, and the stand was incredible.
It was in bloom when I cut it with that mower's brother. The tips of the heads were as high as the Super H radiator cap. Each swath lay 13 inches deep behind the sickle bar. It had to be first gear wide open with the belt tightened till it was like the middle C on a piano to keep it from slipping. Brand new ledger plates and sections. Each swath was raked into two windrows and we still needed to go in first on the NH baler. Serious hay. Jim

I too have one of those 31's (at this point it's an educated guess) I'd love more info on it since it's one of the quietest running rigs I've ever used. It's sort of adapted to a three point hitch, but it's more jury-rigged then anything else, and hence I don't really trust it. Add me to the list of information beggers.

looks very close. I got my camera back so I will take some pictures. if we ID it you folks can help me learn how to hook it up :)

OK finally got it out where i could see everything
and a bath with the pressure washer uncovered
some old white letters proudly proclaiming model 27-v tractor mower :)

so now how does it hook up :)

It bolts to the drawbar. I've never done it, but it looks pretty straight forward.

While we are begging...anybody with the drop box and/or shafts for a belly mount gear box mower just hollar. I bought one on an auction and watched the drop box go home with one of the tractors before I knew I was missing it.
The mower was covered in about a foot of snow so it was anybody's guess as to what it was or how much of it was there. On the upside it was cheap!

yea the drawbar bolt on I figured out its the hydraulic hookup I was wondering about. theres a long rod and a pulley and the hydo cyl.
I have an idea on how it might go but I'm not sure
looks like the pulley bolts to the drawbar and the cylinder mounts up front somewhere?

You can see the "bright" red cyl in the photo that was posted on the upper left side.
Is the pulley different than the one in the front of the picture? Not real sure where that would go if it isn't.

They are a good mower. I still use a GL-25-VO with 7ft cut behind a Farmall M. It goes out alongside the big disk mower every year. As to the hydraulic cylinder there are at least arrangements for lifting the cutter bar. Either a long rod, which hits you on the elbow, a one way hydraulic cylinder mounted under the tractor and connected via the pulley to lift the cutter bar or a two way cylinder on the mower frame which lifts and lowers the cutter bar. The last arrangement is by far the best for working, but it does have a tendency to break gag levers if not set correctly. Two pictures: one of a 25V behind a Farmall H and the other showing the frame of the mower.
