1967 806 - no hydraulics

I recently acquired one of my dad's old tractors (a 1967 806D). I've got it cranked and running but it has no hydraulics. No brakes, steering, or PTO for sure. Have not hooked an implement to it to see if remotes are working. Tractor has set up for at least 3 years. I was told all of the steering, brakes, and hydraulics went out prior to previous owners parking it. They said they changed the hydraulic filter and fluid in an attempt to fix it but could not get any of these areas to work. I spoke to the guy who worked for them and he said he changed an internal filter on the right side under the platform and the fluid. Any help wouold be appreciated

The most likely cause is a failure of the IPTO hub and shaft/gear in the back of the clutch pressure plate assembly. If you remove the cover under the clutch you can see the parts in front of the release bearing. Make sure the shaft and hub are turning with the PPA.

When the splines wear out they usually make noise for a little while but if run enough they will quiet down as they splines wear more. The rivets that hold the hub to the clutch cover may be what failed. In that case they will make little or no noise.

Thanks, tractor was in a field when i got ownership. With no steering or brakes,I have not been able to move it. Will have to figure out how to split it.

Wow, there's someone else with your exact same problem. What are the odds two people acquired 806's with bad hydraulics.

Like I told the other guy, splitting it in the field is a bad idea. Switching to Geico commercial bad idea. Allstate mayhem commercial bad idea.

Do what you have to do to get it on a solid pad, preferably in an air conditioned shop, and then split it. With the tires aired up a 4x4 pickup should be able to move the tractor easily in 4L.

Ideally you could just wrap a chain around the front weight bracket and lift the nose of the tractor with a loader to maneuver it around, but it'll slide if you put your mind to it.
