I have a small farmall. I can not find the serial number plate but have found the number on the engine under number 1 spark plug. That number is 335006 with FAAM HA5 G over the number. I think I have a 1952 Super A. Can any one help with this ID problem.
Thanks in Advance.

That engine was probably used in a tractor in about August 1952. The serial number would have probably been about 1,600 less. The serial plate should be on the right side of the left seat bracket.

Jim, I appreciate your response. I have looked high and low and can not find a serial number plate anywhere on the tractor. That is why I used the number from the engine.
Just wanted to know if it was a Suuper A in order to buy parts.
Thanks for helping.

Is the gas tank rounded or teardrop shaped? Teardrop - A or SA. Rounded - Cub. I also don't believe the regular A had hydraulics, whereas the SA did.

The FAAM prefix indicates a Farmall A engine and the serial number greater than 250000 indicates a Super A. I do not know the meaning of the HA 5G suffix.

I think HA5 means high altitude 5,000 feet. G seems to be stamped into most of them from that time, probably just means gasoline. I've never seen that documented.

Harry, just in case you missed it, especially if it was painted red by a former owner, like mine... Super-A serial # plate...
