Whining noise from transmission

Good day, I have a 484 IH . The transmission whines quite a bit. Fluids are all up. Is this common or should I worry? We had a 880 David Brown and that transmission whined really loud. It also went for about 8000 hours and still had no problems. Thanks Martin

Take it somewhere to get it repaired and when you get the bill there may be a whining noise from on top of the trans! lol sorry I just couldn't resist.

Whining noise was common for most of the rear end/transmissions I have ever worked with, especially Farmall and International.

Strait cut bevel gears and spur gear final drives whine, it is the way they are. If it makes clunks. or grinding, it is an issue. Jim
