I have heard of people putting footballs in them. New springs are available, the stiff one is the only one made far as I know, there used to be lighter ones. At 165 lbs, the one on my H is too stiff.

You may find a coil over shock that would fit in place of the shock.
I replaced my spring with a rod, but I saved the spring for when I get skinny.

i feel the same way. when i loose waight, ill fit in my dress blues. and the springs on my A, will work like new....

David, from your explanation I trust that your seat is the easy rider seat with the V shaped spring and the shock absorber.
I have heard of some guys taking a cheap football either regular or youth model I am not sure which.
Let the air out, put in into the center as to wedge into the V of the spring. Add air to stiffen the ride some and away you go! Cheap fix or something to try at least. Hope this helps!
Later.

CIH offers a HD coil spring for the letter series seats for us "big boys" (I'm approx 275#). I put one on my SMTA 3-4 years ago & it supports me though I do need to lose some weight.......LOL

(quoted from post at 17:54:43 06/01/11) Anyone got an easy way to boost the seat spring on an H? I am hitting bottom at 200 pounds.

I weigh about 235. The heavy duty spring does an excellent job. It does not bottom out. I currently have two of the heavy duty springs in stock.

At 285 I undersand the question. I doubled up the spring, with a 2nd spring from a parts tractor, and that was too stiff. Through trial and error I ended up cutting it to about 2/3rd's of original size and threaded that inside the original. Works good now.

Spring in a spring is a do-able thing. Only thing is that the inner spring needs to be wound in the opposite direction than the outer spring, else the coils can line up with each other and interfeere with the movement.
