Farmall A - Where do I add oil?

I just inherited a Farmall A from my Dad. He loved it but I never took the time to learn about it while he was around. Anyway, crazy question, but where do you add oil?

Thanks! That's what I thought but didn't want to take any chances. I'd feel pretty bad if I blew the engine after one trip seeing my father had it for 50 years with no problems.

Owners manuals are good to have but soon I will have owned my A for 50 years and never have had owners manual and have gotten by right well and no one else has ever worked on it. Started old tractor up yesterday for friend and after setting for over a month it kicked right off and made me proud.

The operative question, however, should be, how much oil ?

If it has a dipstick, you are ok by normal engine level marks on the dipstick.

No dipstick --- oil pan should have two taps that look like faucets. Slowly open one at a time, and if the upper one leaks a drop your ok. If the upper is open, and the lower one when open doesn't leak a drop, the oil level is too low.

I do not like to preach manuals, but they can save you from some expensive repairs later. You will also find out features that you would have never thought were there.
