What is the minimum compession for a Farmall Cub's 4 cylinder engine? The Cub tractor I have has 120 lb.compession. It starts easily but I converted it to 12 volts. My friend's cub has 60-70 lb. in all cylinders. It has lots of blow by and is very hard starting His electrical system is 6 volts.

I think your friend's tractor needs an engine rebuilt. Have the cylinders measured for wear it may need to bored oversize if they're worn a lot. Have the crankshaft measured for wear too.
It may need to be ground undersize your local auto machine shop can determine what it needs. He won't grind it undersize unless it needs it.

A new Cub engine will start on the first fire after rebuild with 6v no need to go to 12v on a 60 cu engine.
