IH1466 Oil Spray

Our 1466 was put away last fall with no known problems. It started right up last week with no problems but when it is in half to full throttle, there is a significant amount of oil that comes out of the blow by tube. Last year there was none ever noticed. Now on full throttle, it sprews out very quickly. We have only owned the tractor for a year but it was fully restored when we purchased it. Does anyone have any suggestions what is causing this? Thanks.

Not being too experienced with tractor engines, how hard is it to identify which ring is the broken one and how big a job is it to replace? Would it be better to replace all rings or just the broken one, if that is the problem?

Before you get all worked up, have you been using this tractor to just "putz" around with?

IH diesels aren't happy unless they are pulling balls to the wall, wide open all day long. They just aren't engineered to idle around. They'll wet stack and they'll also blow oil out the draft tube.......EVERY DARNED TIME ya put 'em on light duty.

I'd work the livin' snot out of 'er for a day or two before condemning it. Bet it then dries up.

It is used for the occasional tractor pulls in the stock class and a couple parades. No real work for this tractor anymore.

like allan said make sure that is the promblem first. If it is and you are going to work on the motor do a complete rebuild much better off in the long run.

Don't over look the possibility that the crank case is over full with anti freeze or diesel fuel.
