That slant 4 engine was in some of the early '60s Scouts, and I think there was a light duty 1/2 ton pickup truck with that engine available.

V-4 or is it a slant 4. The slant 4 was used in the first Scouts and some of the early 1/2 ton pick up and it has some balls to it to boot. Had one in a 1961 IH pick up and if it could get traction it would have climbed a tree

You might also try the classic trucks link on this page for info. It's at the bottom on the left under related sites

Just flipping through Frederick Crismon's "International Trucks" book I cannot tell for sure when the 900 was introduced but the earliest picture shown is in the 1965 section. Some of the verbage in the book makes it appear that it was available earlier than that but I don't know for certain. Features include a 152 cubic inch slant four (half of the 304 V8), three speed column shift, GVW of 4000 lbs, 107 inch wheelbase, six foot box, and a list price of $1950. The 1966 section of the book specifies the three speed transmission as having a floor lever. In 1967 the 900 was replaced by the 908 which had a 266 V8 as standard.
