what compresion for a super h,what tork are the bolts on the rod caps, and whats the tork on the head bolts. and is the valve clearance 17.thanks Rick tore the super h down today and got rods out, will take head to shop on wed. for head work and put new rings in.

I usually give the answer to the question, but there are really important elements in a manual (even an IT brand manual from a tractor store) that has ring end gap, bearing and journal specifications, torques, torque sequence, gear timing info and other critical data. .017 warm enough to work on is correct for intake and exhaust. well I will never do a farmall again, so I guess Ill go to the farm store and read the answers I ask for sorry to ask such hard question. I dont need a book just to get a few answers, but I understand when people dont want to give them to you. Have a good day, and I hope you all make alot of money with reading books on how to do things.

Rick, there are several folks on this forum who will take the time to consult the manual they OWN and give you the CORRECT answer. There are even MORE folks who will voice an opinion of what they THINK is the correct answer, but have not taken the time to consult the manual, or do not own a manual, but they give an answer anyhow. It is next to impossible to sort out these replies, and to KNOW who is giving the correct answers, and when it comes to engine specifications, you DO need to know which answers are correct and which answers are total BS. The only way to know for sure is to buy the manual and then you will know for sure. The price of the manual is very minimal compared to the price of rebuilding that engine a second time. Plus, that manual includes a BUNCH of info that you haven't even thought of needing, but eventually you WILL need.

Thanks Rusty, my thoughts to a T. I thought about getting out my manual for the H and putting down the answers to his questions. Then I thought twice about it because the SH may be different than the straight H. I don't want to be providing the wrong answers, even if I didn't know it.

BTW, looks like even my MD has the same valve clearance of .017".

Thanks jeffkoh, You were a big help got the data and maybe can return favor someday if you ever do a john deere, Thanks so much

I have many Farmalls. And have been a "wrench" for 50 years. I do not have access to the mnanuals needed to reply to the questions you asked at hand. The proice of the manual should be applied to the repair, and given to the owner. I am friendly, but believe in what I indicated was your best option. Jim
