farmall 656 gas electrical problem

not charging battery the battery load tested good and the generator was putting out above 12 volts. with a full battery charge ran the tractor all day next day it was dead with the amp light flashing. not sure if its the generator or regulator any ideas or sure ways to check?

Probable stuck cutout points in the Regulator if it is a generator. Or a bad diode if it is an alternator. If it is an alternator, do not use the analysis described below.
Alternators are aluminum with spade connectors and one stud for the battery connection.
