Hydraulic seat on 1586

The other day the kid was messing around with the hydraulic seat on the 1586 while I was in the field and he extended it way up, now it doesnt come down, any trick to get it to release? Shined around under the seat at the linkage, doesnt appear to be anything holding it up, but it doesent act like it has hardly any suspension now either. Thanks for any help or information.

I caused that same problem myself many many many years ago... Dad got it fixed but he wasn't too happy with me so I made myself scarce during the repair process.

For some reason I vaguely remember that he had to relieve the pressure on the cylinder by loosening the oil line. Must be a check valve in there that gets pushed closed and won't let the oil flow back.

Yeah, there's no suspension because it's pumped up hard. It's as high as it will go.

Suffice it to say I never adjusted the seat on that tractor again.
