HELP Identify. Found this in a barn down the street.

This is what I believe to be a winter cab for a Farmall Tractor. The only reason I believe that is because I knew the previous owner (has passed away), and all he had owned were International Tractors. It also appeared to have the original "darker blue" shade on the framework that IH used. I Googled IH "Winter Cab", "Cab for Farmall Tractor", etc.; and haven't really found hardly anything!! I saw one picture with a Cub tractor that was wearing one, and it seemed to look similar. Thats the only facts I've got. Being in Alabama, I feel that its pretty rare to find something like this, as it would have been more popular up North. Could someone please educate me on what this is, and what it fits. I should be going to get it out of the barn this weekend. Who knows how long its been sitting up there in the rafters! hah.

The old man even had an original 1972 IH 1310 Pickup with the Dump Bed. He only used it to haul feed for his cows and fertilizer for the hay feild. It has 39,000 original miles, and most of them were from where he would ride up and down the neighborhood and drink a 6 pack so the wife wouldn't know.

The son ended up giving me the Truck and any contents in the barn in exchange for a little bit of brush cleanup around the outside of it. The truck runs EXCELLENT by the way, but does need a little brake work.

I'd appreciate it if you guys could tell me a little about it, what year it is/when it was available (approx.), and the approximate value of it. THANKS!!!

I apoligize for posting that last picture of the disk harrow. Those were also in the barn, and from the size of them I don't think that they fit a Cub tractor. They're pretty big. They actually look bigger than the disk that fit the Super A tractors. Besides the disk harrow, and the Cab Enclosure; I also found a Cultivator Plant Sheilds with original paint that were HUGE. They were much bigger than the ones found on a Super A like we have. I also got a fiber belt pulley, a steel belt pulley, and some sort of stone/rock that was very, very lightweight; but it looked like it fit on the PTO like the belt pulley did. Those 3 peices were also found together which makes me believe the stone goes on the PTO of some sort of IH tractor.

Again, I apologize for getting off topic of the Winter Cab; but thought I'd share what else I got in the barn since I accidentially posted the picture of the disk harrow.

I look forward to the answers you all come up with!!!

IH used the trade name "windbreaker" for those things. I can see that name in one of your pictures. If you hit google images with "harvester tractor windbreaker" you will find several pictures of them on tractors, along with a bunch of other unrelated stuff.

They all look about the same. Without knowing what model tractors he had it will be hard to figure out what this one fits. They were available for many years.

I think the disc is small enough for a Cub... only 8 blades on it and really can't get much smaller than that, except for a garden tractor. A friend has one that size that he got with a MH Pony, which is comparable to a Cub.

Thats a heat houser. Most of them had the models that it fit on the cloth part that went along the side of the engine.

Cubs can pull a tandem harrow (front and back gangs) about that wide even when weighted down with ballast. We used to have one here but my mother sold it for $35.00 about fifty years ago.

There appears to be a Cub fender next to harrow. Chances seem good that the Windbreaker fits a Cub. Can't say that I have ever seen a white one but maybe it was styled for the later white and yellow Cubs.

If you are referring to the last picture posted, that isn't mine. That is actually a Cub Disk Harrow judging from the size of it; and yes, that is a Cub fender. In MY PICTURE of the disk harrow I was asking about, there isn't a Cub fender in it. The disk harrow is also MUCH LARGER than it looks in the picture. I would say that it has around a 20 inch blade on it. They are much bigger than the Super A pull type set I have.

From my Google search, I have never seen another white one either. However, the blue paint like this one has (implement blue from the late 40's and 50's), it leads me to believe it is from that time period. From all of the pictures I've seen, they are yellow or some other color. If the model of the tractor is on the canvas, where would it be located??

I agree with Jim about the Windbreaker brand heat houser. Below is one on my Cub but they were made for all size tractors. The one you picture has all the options as it has a top and perhaps a rear panel, too.

Yep, Heat Houser , We used to hang it by wires from the rafters in summer to keep the mice out of the canvas...looks like the birds have been in that one there.

(quoted from post at 05:39:50 05/26/11) Make sure you have a good manifold gasket!

Anyone have ab idea what-it is worth?? What about how to determine what model it fits? Is it marked somewhere in the canvas? Thanks for everything thus far.

It may be worth nothing. Most of the older ones have mouse holes and urine on them as well as bird stains etc. This will drop their value quite a bit. If you are buying it to use a new one is $200-300. I would guess it is like an umbrella, if you find the right person a mint original is worth a pretty penny.

Heat Houser was a brand name, but other companies probably made them too. If I remember right, every Heat Houser Dad ever had was kind of OD green with yellow lettering. Amazing how much heat they would funnel back off the engine.
