got a 41 cub and the other day while plowing my steering went all wrong because the bolts and dowl holding the top and bottom of the steering box together came lose and fell out. there are 5 holes for bolts - what size should i replace them with and what are the dimensions of the dowl rod?

That's very odd that you have a '41 Cub, because they didn't start making them until 1947.

What is the serial number on the metal tag on the right side of the steering box? We can get you an accurate date of manufacture.

Regardless, I can't tell you what bolts, but I can tell you how to find out. Go to caseih.com and along the top there's a section for parts. It's a drop-down menu. In that drop-down there is a choice for "Search for Parts." That's where you want to be.
