New tractor....1256

Just picked this up from a relative. 1256 wheatland serial number 7506. Just over 6,000 hrs with a new pump rebuid. I know my handle says 5020 but I like all tractors, especially muscle tractors. Going to be a handy tractor on the augers since we have both 540 and 1000 PTO.

North central montana near the Sweet Grass Hills. The pic was taken during a couple of winters ago. The tractor is still at my neighbor's place parked back in the shed with about 2 tractors and 2 pickups in front of it.

7506!That could possibly the 6th 1256 built!I am not sure if IH used seperate SNs ,but 1256 Farmalls started at 7501.My 1256(Farmall) is sn#7696-it was the lowest sn listed in Red Power magazine for several years,I got beat-they found #7645 last year :( any readers? Is that original paint?

nice tractor. I like the sound of a turbo 407 under load. Doesn't seem loud and obnoxious--has almost a musical quality.

Its got 20,000 hrs-I think.I bought it sight unseen from a dealer(He said it only had 7800hrs-I've put on 2500+ hrs) in western KS 11 years ago.I overhauled it shortly thereafter. No engine problems since. That 407 is a good engine-enjoys a long life.My friend in WS. has a '12' with 18000 hrs-pistons have never been out. Those old tractors will really crank out the power!

I was wondering if there was a serial number list for 1256s. I was going to look on the Red Power website but I had trouble logging on last night. Paint is original.
