Super A Pressure Plate

I posted a message last week about the height measurement of the contact fingers on a Rockford pressure plate on a Super A. One of you give me the measurements of 2 3/8".
One last question. Is that measurement with it bolted to the flywheel or with it off?

Thanks

The best way to do the adjustment is to use a flat surface and a spacer as thick as the lever height measurement. Use a heavy washer to catch all three levers and a bolt through your surface plate or a small plate and a press to hold the levers at the spacer height. Then adjust the levers until you get the right measurement between the surface plate and the underside of of the clutch cover where the mounting bolts are located.

An alternate method is to use the correct height spacers under the clutch cover at the mounting holes and pull the cover down until they are tight. Then adjust the levers until you get the correct lever height.

The first method is best because that has the adjustments made with spring pressure against the levers to take up any movement between holes and pivot pins. With the second method there is no tension on the levers and any adjustment may be off due to worn parts.

Usually you are better off not trying to make any adjustment on the clutch levers because it is very difficult to get the adjustments set as close as a rebuild PPA is set to.

If you really have to make adjustments without the proper setting tools you can get pretty close by having the flywheel off and setting it on a level surface. Once the flywheel is level install the disk and PPA. Adjust the levers until they are horizontal. Use a heavy washer or small plate that will cover all three levers. Put a level on the plate and do final adjustments until the plate is level.

Similar to the first method is what I had in mind. Great
advice because I had a broke finger and replaced it.

So the measurement should be about 2 3/8" from clutch disk
to contact surface of fingers with pressure plate mounted on
flywheel???
