Sealer used on Farmall A fuel stainer

Hello. I am getting ready to put the fuel strainer back into the bottom of my gas tank on my 1945 Farmall A. I would like to know what type/brand of sealer that I should apply to the threads. I dont want it to leak gas around the threads once I install it. Thanks

I use regular plumbing stuff. I like the "dope" over the tape, but if you are wise when you apply the tape you won't have a problem.

you can also use a rubber o ring insted of the glass bowl paper and suppose to do better for leaks there. ricky

That's the one place they usually don't leak -- I usually use the tape, you can also use the paste, I suppose.
