1949 H Lightswitch Decal Position?

Anyone know the correct position for the decal that reads "O D B" on my H"s headlight switch? I have taken the switch out of the panel for painting, and since you can install the knob onto the switch in any clock position, I don"t know the proper position for the decal. The decal would fit best directly under the switch, but then the "O D B" would be ubside down. There doesn"t seem to be room for it above the switch, because the ammeter is too close. Anyone know how Farmall had this decal positioned from the factory?

The decal applies to the left of the knob. Not below it. Not above it.

Put it on where it matches the positions of the switch. Rusty is correct, as I think the switch can only be mounted in one position.

Thanks a bunch. I'm gonna ask you guys about a few more decals that I have questions about. How about the air cleaned decal...above or below the clamp that holds the top half to the bottom half?

I've already been chewed out a few hours ago for saying something like "buy a book". But, Guy Fay's Letter Series Book has all the decals info in it and many other things you might like. Has exact measurements in it. Far as I know it is still in print. However, some of the needed info is missing. Rustred is apparantly correct, but I had to look at the W6 info, it says 1/2 inch from the bottom of the air cleaner.

Jim, May be either way? I thought 49 was about the time IH went to distributers, voltage regulator, etc? But not at the same time on all models. Anyway, all he has to do is count the number of clicks. My early 1950 C has 3 clicks, distributer, VR, looks factory.

I have a '46 H with the 3 position switch. Maybe it is not original, maybe it is. I know I did not change it.

3 clicks or 3 positions?

Yes, they did change around 1949 and 1950, with different models at slightly different times. I think some of the first VR systems went onto 9-Series tractors, although I didn't try looking that up just now.

Parts catalog for the H shows the change at serial 340954, which was during 1950. I'm not finding the right reference right now, but I think the C changed before the end of 1949, so a '50 tractor would have been a VR system.

A '46 H clearly would have been a cut-out system when new.
