Saving wheel weights

I've got a parts H I'm trying to get wheel weights off of, but no success. I've soaked the bolts repeatedly, loosened the nuts slightly and beat on them with a sledge hammer, but no go. I don't have a way to get the bolts red hot, which might be the solution, but was wondering if there's anything else I could do.

May have to find someone with a torch and cut the heads off on the back side. Unless you can get at the nuts and cut them off.

No sense in trying to save the bolts by just heating them. Once you get the torch just cut the bolts.

Thanks, I was actually able to get the nuts off. The bolts are solidly rusted into the hub and won't budge.

Seems the sledge hammer should do it. If you got the nuts off the bolts, try this. Screw a nut halfway on the bolt then screw another bolt into that nut. Find the biggest hammer you can and hit the bolt that is screwed halfway into the nut. The two bolts together like this keeps the hammer from mushrooming the bolt. I've never failed to get bolts out using this method, but I guess there is one out there that it would not work on.

I have had to cut the bolts flush with a cut off wheel and pound them out with another junk bolt or a punch and a sledge.

Bigger hammer!

I try to save the bolts with a piece of metal to protect the threads and a 2 lb hammer. If that doesn't work the 10 pounder comes out. That's worked every time so far.
