If I hook up my 504 Farmall to a Mower preciously hooked to a John Deere with #10 non-detergent oil as hydraulic oil will this contaminate my hy-tran fluid?

That's why I use the same universal equivalent oil in everything and I don't worry about it.

That's all well and good but sometimes that's not an option. Such as when you're borrowing a piece of equipment from a neighbor farmer.

What little mixing that goes on is a spit in the ocean compared to the contamination that is likely already in your oil. It's not going to sieze the pump, or melt a hole in the bottom of your tractor, that's for sure.
