IH model 990 mower-conditioner

I have a IH mower-conditioner model 990 and I heard of a guy that switched the rivets on the cuter bar to bolts to make the cuters easier and quicker to change when they break. Has anyone heard of that ? If so, what kind of bolts to use, are they a special kind or just any bolt that will fit? Thanks for the help. Josh Day

They are a special 'section bolt'you can buy at your farm supply store.by em by the box-nuts are included.I use em.

They work great, but you need to use higher hold downs, or the bolts will rub.

yeah there kind of a special bolt and nut, you will need the tall hold down clips. i had to put a couple thin shims under my tall clips when i switched mine over to bolts. alot better than rivets
