What have you guys been giving for M's? I am looking specifically for a 1942 to match my H but have found a nice looking 1940 not too far down the road. I told the guy I was not overly interested since it was not the right year, it needed a battery and rear tires. However, I cant seem to get it out of my head!!! Guy said it had not run in a few years but was loose and had been stored inside so should fire right up with some fresh gas and a battery. Had been painted not too long ago but not a very good job. Anyway, if I go back and pick it up, wondering what I may be able to resell it for? If I tuned it up and changed the fluids would $1000 be out of the question? Thanks guys!!!

It seems the price has been going up you can't find one in this area for less than $900 thats what i gave for a 1940 for parts.Nice ones seem to go for $2000-2500.

Those rear tires will set you back $1,000.

Neighbor just bought one for $1500 in very good mechanical shape, decent metal, and brand new tires. He will NEVER get his money back, but I think he got a good deal.

In range, unfortunately with the price of scrap so high, there almost at that price. Figure 5000-6500lbs of heavy iron. I did however pay 1250 for my M with M&W pump, and near new tires; sheet metal was tanked though.

Yeah I know rear tires are not cheap...this tractor would not be one I would spend the money for tires on. Just a tune-up change of fluids and re-sell. Just can't decide if it would be worth it; basically need to decide if I could get about $1000 for a run-of the mill M (sheet metal is pretty good on it)...

The buyers will be more willing to accept messed up sheet metal than they will be to accept rotten rear tires. Knowing what new rear tires cost, I would not pay any more than $1,000 for an M, even if the rest of the tractor was perfect, and if there were any other issues of any kind, the price would drop quickly.

Location is going to be a big part. Check craigslis in your area and see what they are being listed for.

Ms are pretty much immortal.they still bring the same prices that they did 30/40 years ago.Unless of course it has new paint/tires(its "restored")and someone thinks its a "collector".Then you can pay 3-5000-or more. You wont get hurt at $1000.

Around here, in southwest Iowa, 30 to 40 years ago You could buy a Farmall M at an auction for around $500, drive it 20 miles to get home, and go straight to the field with it. Now I know the price of everything has gone up, and today I would expect to pay $1,000 to $1,500 for a good, solid M that is field ready. Even $2,500 would not be out of line for an exceptional example, but to pay $1,500 for an M that has to be loaded on a trailer and hauled home, and then spend another $1,000 to $2,000 before it is field ready is just something I will not do.

Let me know if you do not buy it. I am looking for a really cheap M to put under a corn picker so I do not have to unmount it to move it, and won't feel bad letting it sit inside. Thanks

I can't seem to get the tractor out of my head so am going to try and pick it up myself... If your interested in it, drop me an email as I will be looking to resell it. Thanks!

I just bought a 1943 M with new rubber front and rear.converted to 12 volt. had to change oil and filter and install a new sediment bowl, and adjust the carb.it runs perfect.paid $1400,the selling point was it was 10 min. from home.with fuel prices like they are now,you have to consider what it will cost to get it home. There is an M on craigslist,DM. area farm & garden section. complete, not running,$700.00,if that gives you any idea of price. Jim Iowa

Yeah I saw that and was going to go look at it but with scrap prices being soo low right now, I I thought it was over-priced condsidering it has been sitting outside in IA for 10yrs... Plus I dont have a winch on my trailer and the guy told me he had no way to help load it.

d282 - where are you located from Salina, KS. I had placed several tractors on Craigslist and YT with good results. Got an M out of the shed this morning. Very good ol" boy. Haven't posted yet, but $1,200. and she goes geat!
