Ok I have a 282 IH motor with one bad glow plug. Previous owner rounded the top trying to get it out . Would it be eaiser to remove the injector and maybe replace all of it or is there some secret getting the glow plug out ? Thanks

i have taken some pretty tight ones out but used a 6 point deep socket. if the head is that bad that a 6 point dont work then clamp a good vise grip on it and try. worst senario is it will break off flush. then the fun begins. from here it may be machine shop work if your not comfortable with a drill and tap. but as you say simplist is just replace the injector with another good one if available.i wouldnt use heat or do welding especially with the guts still in it.

Before you twist it off. Remove the injector, screw out the center line fitting. Keep everything clean, remove the nozzle valve & gaskets. Note order they came out. Put the body in a vise and heat lengthwise along the side where the glow plug is to dull red. Will a screw right out. Clean bore good & put neversieze on the new glo plug. If you have already twisted it off weld a nut to it so you can get it out. Have done many fo them this way. Get new gaskets for to put it back togather.
