806 MCV reinstalling question.

As I am dealing with this brake issue I decided to pull the mcv off and go through it and the pump. Taking it off I see whomever had is apart last used an excessive amount of form a gasket sealer or rtv silicone of some thing between the gasket and the metal. I did not read in the manual that you are even supposed to use anything other than the gaskets. This crap is all over, and am guessing I will find some in places it shouldnt be. Am I taking a risk going through the MCV myself or should I bring it to a shop and have them do it so it has a better chance of doing it right? This is a T/A delete. Seems pretty straight forward in the book, but I havent taken it apart yet, only off the tractor. Also, is hy tran the best to refill it with , or will universal hydraulic fluid work?

Dave myself i have never worked on a T/A delete tractor and i am not Of the change on the MCV valve . But if you have the book a clean place to work like a metal bench or large cookie sheet ( and don't go tellen the wife i TOLD YOU TO STEEL ONE OF HER'S ) , go buy your own take it apart and lay it all out and i place the clean parts on clean cardboard and start checking spring lengths and look for sticking valves . And ya never use Dr. Blue , black or clear . Myself don't like the stuff seen way to many problems from misuse .Friday i was into the rt brake on my 806because of a adjuster backing off and cutting the big piston o/ring , took more time getting the fender moved and cleaning parts then it did to do the rest of the work. Yesterday i drove up to Atwater and looked at Greg's 706 problems And found his smoking dash problems now just waiting on him to get the wright stuff and he will be back up and running . Andy's 656 problems should be back up and running today with any luck . Talked to him Saturday evening and again lastnight . Sure is easier to help someone out when i can see in person what is going on. Like with your problem i do not think either Pete or Owen , or myself have ever run into this. It has to be something stupid.

Hi Dave I have been thinking about your brake problem while planting corn the brakes are run off the return flow from the steering check to see if the 3 gal orfice is in the mcv or not if that would be gone that would send to much flow to the brakes. Maybe a overhaul of the mcv will fix it. It would have been interesting to install a flowrater to the line leading to the brakes.I am from sw minnesota cold wet spring.Bob
