F-12 restoration...MW pistons??

Spent a few hours tonight on the tractor. Pulled the radiator and shutters off. Got around to removing the oil pan and was surprised at how clean the bottom end was. Thought I'd see how the pistons were and was amazed how easily pistons #2..3..4 came out easily. Then I noticed the part number...P848 and MWM stamped opposite of that. Are these M&W pistons? How common are these?

This has to be a rebuild and I though so when I saw your original posting. I do not believe step head pistons were introduced into the Farmall line until the super letter series or even later for a modest horsepower increase. I doubt they were common. Someone beefed your unit up for more performance.

IH offered a high compression piston listed as 5000 ft High Altitude. The WMW may be a foundry mark, possibly McCormick Works? Definitely not M&W

Seth, What size across are the pistons?
It looks like a stepped head piston like you would see in a 113 A,B,C, kit. That may date the rebuild till after 1945 or so. I am not sure they had them in the early 40's. oldiron29

piston design looks a lot like the ones in the LB 1.5 hp engine my brother restored for school a couple years ago. We did a bit of research in case we needed a piston but stopped when the old one came out ok. If i remember right, the bore was the same as a C-113 from an A but the ring layout and design was not. I did not have access to an F12/14 parts diagram however.
