Farmall regular?????

I have a 31 regular with a brass carb. Anyone know how high the gas level should be in the float bowl?I"ve converted the float from the cork to a B+S engine float.I can"t seam to get it adjusted so it gets gas and runs without gas leaking from it.When it does run,it seems to very rich-black smoke.I"m not sure exactly how this carb works.I try different things, its either to low-won"t run or too high-run rich and leaks gas.
Any thoughts or advice welcome Thanks Al

Did you know there is a line machined around the inside of the bowl of the carb? That is the float setting the factory used when assembling carbs. Try that and see how it works. Some of the kits listed the wrong float settings also.

that big thumb screw on top is the main needle valve adjustment. if its running rich turn it in till it smoothens out.

yeah, if it's overfilling the bowl it will leak. Get your level below the lip of the bowl a little and see if it clears up. Like Bob says. There is a line

A147, I just got a 31 running last week. It also has a brass float. I was supprized how low it rides in the carb. Not close to the line on the bowl. I think I have been setting my other to high. This one seems to run reel go where it is and no gas over flow on bowl. oldiron29
