Narrow Front End Super C

Just ordered a narrow front end for my 53 Super C. It was difficult to find the part online but the salvage yard pulled through. (http://www.jptractorsalvage.com/) Now i have to wait about 4 days until the shipment arrives and I have to figure out how to take the current wide front off and attach the narrow. If anyone has pre-work suggestions let me know, otherwise I will post pictures of the process when I get started.

and just think I"d kill for one.
Have been looking for a wide front for over a year.. problem is they are all hundreds of miles away from here..

How many narrow front ends do you need??

All you gotta do is jack up the front of the tractor and undo 8 bolts.

Putting the narrow front under is even easier... Only 4 bolts.

There is a sort of flat place on the bell housing just behind the oil pan. Use that to place a jack. Remove the two bolts that holds the tie rods to the front bolster. Remove the bolts holding the wide front to the front frame. Remove the wheels from the cast center, three bolts per wheel (If your narrow front does not come with wheels) and attach the wheels to the narrow front. 4 bolts are needed to attach the narrow front to the front bolster. If you have all the parts it takes about 30 to 40 minutes with a ratchet, less if you have an air wrench. Be careful using an air wrench to remove bolts that have been in place for some time. I prefer to use a pull handle or ratchet to break them loose.

I am still on the fence as to weather I want to keep the current wide front or sell it. I honestly prefer the wide front over the narrow but like the looks of the narrow.

If i decide to sell the wide front i will post it on the classifieds in probably another month or so when i make up my mind.

I thought I wanted a wide front on my SH. I hunted a long time for one and pd a premium for it. Got it all painted up, installed and looking great. I took it off the next month. Performance sucked. No turning radius. Takes a 3 point turn unless you're in a wide open space. It also gave the tractor a nose up appearance that I didn't care for. I love the narrow front.

I have a single front on my 300 and love the performance, it's a zero turn without standing on the brake. I'm not so crazy about the appearance and will eventually put a tricycle front on it.

I would probably agree, I love my SC's and they all have tricycle fronts. I have a C with a single and I'll eventually get to try that out as well.
My only reason for wanting a wide front is that I want to set up a few permanent beds in my garden. (2 acres and growing) it's hard to straddle a bed with a narrow front.. ;-(

Just got the physical tripod for the Super C today! Going to sand and power wash as soon as the rain stops here and hopefully start paint on it this weekend. Could be looking at mid next week for the front end swap.
