After straightening out all the past goof ups on this tractor ie. oil rings installed wrong, incorrect oil filter, valves nowhere near close, air filter without oil,etc I screwed up myself and did not notice how the pistons were orientated. There is no mark on top of the piston to point toured the front of the engine. The pistons are symmetrical ie no offset on the caps and dont know if they were installed right in the first place. New rod bearings going in anyway so I don't have to worry about matching previous wear. Anyone know how I should install pistons. Thanks ED Oyea for those of you who like pictures I will try to post some.

When I restored a Farmall A back in 1975-1976 I took the new pistons and old rods and had our local auto machine shop to install the pistons on the rods. Then after installing the piston rings I installed the rods and caps with the numbers facing the cam shaft. Tractor ran like a new tractor. Hal

If there are no arrows or front marked on them, they can go in either way. Did you replace the pin bushings? Also El toro is correct numbers face the cam.

The question is whether there is an offset to the wrist pin position. If so, you need to get them in the right way around.
