686 310-DTorque Specs

Those engines used several different style and grades of cap screws and studs so hard to give a specific torque as my service manual doesn't tell which ones were used on what models and they could have had different ones used over the years.

Doesn't matter what you're working on; torque specs are torque specs.

Look in the front of ANY manual and they usually will give the torques for a litney of bolt sizes, grades and thread pitches.

Except for necked bolts like the german engine, metric bolts. Lot of difference from the std torque chart.

Hi Stiggie, according to my I&T Shop Service Manual for 686 with D-310:
Main Bearing torque specs:
Marked 10K or 10-9 ... 80 ft-lbs
Marked 12K or 12-9 ... 97 ft-lbs
Marked 12.9 ... 140 ft-lbs
Balance weight bolt... 57 ft-lbs
Rod bolts ...... 63 ft-lbs

Head cap screws:
1st torque ... 50 ft-lbs
2nd torque ... 70 ft-lbs
3rd torque ... 90 ft-lbs
Usual pattern starting from center of head working outward in both directions.

Hope this helps
