Hello all, I'm finishing up my restoration of my 1949 H. I bought a reproduction front "nose emblem" from ebay. It is made of aluminum, and looks pretty nice. The issue I'm having is that the emblem has straight sides....it is bent in the center, and each side is straight. The nose of the tractor is rounded, not straight. The emblem fits well right in the center, but since both sides of the emblem are straight and not rounded to follow the contour of the nose, the ends of the emblem are about 3/4" from touching the nose. Somehow, I have to bend some shape into each end of the emblem so it will lay back against the nose correctly. The problem is that the emblem is made from an aluminum "channel" and is quite resistant to being bent or formed. I'm afraid I will kink the top and bottom surfaces if I try to bend or form it backwards to the nose of the tractor. Anyone have any suggestions, or run into this before? Thanks in advance, Jon H.

generally the "channel" will allow for the curve. Try spreading the channel lip just a little to let it fit closer to the tractor at the mid way point. That's how it follows the curve and stays straight.

Im afraid those boys in china, that made your emblem have never seen a farmall h.unfortunately, that that is the way a lot of aftermarket parts are these days.

Every 1/2 inch, notch in two V-shape notches exactly one above the other in the rails. Slightly bend the emblem. You'llnever see it.

I installed a battery box today and it was typical of the aftermarket parts you buy now days. It is held on with four bolts and if I put a bolt in any one of the holes then three others didn't line up. I ended up slotting three of the holes to get it installed. It seems that these aftermarket parts almost fit, but not quite. I don't know where they get their dimensions from. I have had similar problems with radiators, PTO shields, and hoods. Roger

i used a dremmel with die cutter on it, & slowely cut curve into new one, like the old one, fits good & looks good, takes a lot of patience to detail them, used new stainless screws also. Gene
