I recently acquired a H but the PTO was removed and plated over, I purchased a pto unit from the internet, tried to install but inside the rearend the shaft that would drive it only has a slot cut in it not a spline like the PTO unit has, the guy I bought it from has said he thought an adaptor was available for this or I should be looking for a H pto from a 39 or 40 which I believe mine is, any help would be appreciated

If I were you I would be looking for the splined countershaft for the transmission and put it in and then put in the PTO you got. Lots of work but you will have s much better PTO than the dog clutch slot type. Did just exactly that to my 40 M many years ago and never looked back.

Yup, the adapters are next to non-existent though. IA Gary just made one. maybe he will see this and respond.
