Help with Farmall H after electronic ignition install

I just installed a Petronix electronic ignition on my 1941 H. In order to get it started I had to give it full choke, which I never usually do. It never really ran to speed. It would only run if I gave it about 3/4 gas on the governor and played with the choke to keep it running for a minute or two.

Prior to installing the EE, I had cleaned my Autolite 386s and it started right up as always.

Any clues from the braintrust here?

I never had any problems with the way it ran before.

Sounds like it might be something to check out. I will need to check my manual to find the timing marks.

Your timing at 750 RPM's should be around 7 degs. and 1850 RPM's around 30 degs.

I think you are correct. I loosened the distributor, then started moving it CCW a couple of degrees, try to start, repeat.

After moving it about 10 degrees CCW, it started up. I continued moving it until it ran smooth, probably about 20 degrees CCW.

I read that my timing mark is on the crankshaft fan pulley. KNow I need to know how to go about setting the timing correctly.

Anybody out there have specifics?

Is that BTDC or ATDC?

I have a timing light. There does not seem to be any reference to degrees on it?
