Need some help on 1086 AC

Does anybody know how much freon it holds and the high and low pressure reading for the 1086 AC?

I do not understand AC all that well but a auto mechanic friend of mine is gonna come and recharge my air today and wants to know these figures. My tractor mechanic that normally takes care of it is out of town today.

Oh by the way it has been switched to 134.

I haven't got a clue. Thanks Guys

Hi Gary,

The receiver/sightglass on your tractor is up front under that flat panel with the little screws on top of the hood. It's probably gonna take 3-4 lbs if completely dry. Just watch the sightglass to clear up or grab the receiver; when it gets so cold ya don't wanna touch it, you are close.

The readings are always the same fer A/C. Low side should run in at abot 42 and the high at 150 unless it is ungawdly hot out. :>)

Yeah I have used that site glass in the past. When it had R 12 I would add a can once in a while.

I'm a rookie when comes to AC systems as far as the pressures and that stuff.

The friend coming to fill wanted to know. Now we know.

Thanks Allan

Viewed in the sight glass, R-134 doesn't "clear" of bubbles as completely as R-12 and you will overfill it if your try to get rid of all the cloudiness in the sightglass like we used to with R-12.

4 cans is a LOT... better to take it a little easy as R-134 has a higher condensing pressure at a given ambient temp than R-12 and works the OLD system harder.

Well that didn't work. Freon was coming out of the pump about as fast as we put it in around the front seal.

Guess I get to sweat a few more days. First 4 days of corn planting it was cold enough I was running the heater. It's been in the 70's the lsat 2 days. About 90 in the cab.

gary, use esther oil in the compressor for the 134 conversion. also, when doing the 134 conversion, use about 80percent of what the r12 amount is. ie 4 lbs of r12X's .80= 3.2 lbs of r134.
