hello everyone ,was the black dimond engine used on trucks, and if it was what years were they . thanks for any information. gaston

Th Black Diamond engines came along during the run of the R-series light trucks, around 1955. They were originally straight-valve engines, as their Silver Diamond brothers, but by 1957 were tilt-valve engines [wider valve cover]. They were used as the ONLY IH light-line six until the end of the 1968 model year, when IH started using AMC sixes. From about 1964 on, the engines were designated "BG" instead of "BD", abd they generally had positive-crankcase ventilation and the distributors mostly had integral vacuum advance units...primary differences between the BD and BG engines.

thanks alot ,i have an engine that came of a 1964 ih two ton truck and i don't know what size is it.
