Thought I post an update on this. Finished up about 7 acres tonight planting with the H on my 6 row. I pulled it in 4th at 3/4 throttle and it did just fine on flat ground, lost maybe 100 rpm up slight grade. I'd put a 3 1/2 bore hydraulic cylinder on it next time, 3in was just barely enough to lift it. Not too bad for a 71 year old tractor! Was fun to watch the big 6 figure price tag machines go by on the highway while I was chugging along.

I use the H to move the planter around during the year. We have some pretty hilly ground around here. I don't think you would get up the hills.

Did you put duals on, and have fertilizer in buckets?

I gotta figure it was just the planter units, no fertilizer.

That, or he was throwing up a rooster tail of dirt from the spinning wheels.

On our ground, there's no way an H would even pull a 4-row with full fertilizer tanks. The planter would roll over the top of it on the first hill.

I have the fertilizer tanks off of the planter because the lids were bad and the splash over was ruining the planter pivots. A friend of mine died Sunday night who was very fond of his H, his funeral is tomorrow. I'd like to think Bob would have been happy to see what his favorite model tractor could do!

Sorry to hear about your friend Rusty, but on a lighter note, without the fertilizer boxes is CHEATING! :)
