howdy mike, hows the navy!!!!! got your heat shield welded up for your h, had to fabricate a couple patches for it. i still need to metal finish the welded areas, then a quick trip thru the blast cabinet and some etch primer and its ready to go. heres a couple pics of it with the new patches. shoot me an email when you get a chance.

i'm not sure how much demand there is for these, to make a die would be on the spendy side, and it would be a lot of hours to try and hand fabricate these. a while back i made mike a lower grille patch for his h, as the previous owner lopped off the bottom of his (prolly had a cultivator mounted). steiners sells a patch for the m grille but not for the h. here is a pic of the patch panel for the h that i made.

opps, and here is the grille all sandblasted with the new piece welded in. metal finished the outside so just a couple coats of surfacer and a little block sanding was all that was needed.

Glen, You sure do some very nice work. Mike will be very happy once he returns stateside. It is very difficult to find a body shop around here in south central Missouri who will even touch any tractor work. Too many classic cars being restored and lack of anyone wanting to support our tractor restoration efforts it appears, Hal.

randy i used 22 gauge auto body sheet metal. we get it in sheets about 2x3 feet. its mild steel, easy to form with a hammer and dolley. the more it is worked, the harder it gets to you have to do a liitle at a time, otherwise the scrap guy gets the piece. our paint supplier gets the metal for us.

Glann, thanks for doing the work! I can't see Photobucket photos while underway, but I'm sure it looks great. I look forward to seeing it in person!

Too bad you aren't in California. I'd hire you to fix my grill and hood!

glad to do it for ya mike!!! if you got a machine shop there on the Carl Vinson, fly me and the tractor out there and i'll work on it while you are driving the boat!!... i read up some on the Vinson, dang that is one big gal!!! my step dad was on the Antietam CV36 in korea in the early "50s and had a "yearbook" with all kinds of photos and pictures. he was a bosuns mate on the carrier. dang impressive stuff. (wonder if i can get an old carrier in the tool shed to work on?) boy that would be a restoration project!! hate to have to wet sand and buff one of them!!! Mike....be safe out there ...come home safe and sound!!! glenn
