Farmall H Axle Bearing Replacement

You guys are probably going to get tired of me asking the "how do I" questions, but this is my first restoration, so my apologies in advance. 1951 Farmall H, pulled the rear axles and want to replace the inner and outer bearings as well as the PTO bearing. How do I get the axle shaft and bearings out of the axle casing. Removing the bearing retainers was of no help. What am I missing? Thanks! Greg

You are missing the bull gear, it is held on the end of the axle with a bolt, you have to remove that bolt and then the axle will slide out of the bull gear.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry I wasn't clear in my question. I have the axles off the tractor, I'm trying to get the axle shaft out of the casing so I can replace the bearings. There are four bolts that hold two half moon shaped retainers on the end that attaches to the bull gear. Removing these parts doesn't seem to do anything for allowing the shaft to come out of the casing. Any ideas? Thanks, Greg.

Look at what would be the outside end of the axle housing, there is a bearing cap there held on with 4 bolts, remove them and then the axle will come out.

Excellent link Randy...WELL DONE !! I know how much work that really is, you did a fine job, thanks !!
