53 super c 12v conversion rebuilt, restored last year, occasional use since. The last two times I've fired it up one spark plug seems not to be firing and I can see the spark jumping from the plug boot to the engine block, If I center the boot in the block hole all is well, but if it comes close to the block it will short to the block. Any advice or opinions on this problem would be welcome. Thank you, Brian.

I'd start by replacing the plug wires, since it seems like that is where the problem is and they're relatively cheap.

Looks like your boots are very close to the head on the bottom of boot. Electricity is going to take the source of least resistance to ground. If you have a wide gap, or aux gap or resistor plug it may just be easier for spark to go to head. I never like those kind of boots, actually originally IH did not have a boot at the plug end and it was very trouble free. If the end connection at the plug is not making good tight contact that might be problem also. Maybe a little moisture in boot.
