Super A belly mower issues

Ive got a Super A with a (i think) Woods L59 mower, and I cant for the life of me figure out how to get the tractor to pick it up more than an inch and still be able to set it down on the casters. No matter how Ive adjusted the bottom chains or the top chain, all I can get is about an inch of lift, any more and it wont be able to set back down on the wheels. It does more to just rock the chain back and forth than it does to actually pick something up. I dont know what the mount is supposed to look like on the rockshaft arm, but I have a picture of mine under parts and pieces, search for Farmall Super A - Chain Mount. It doesnt look like another Ive found, its a flat bar pinned in. It has a hole at the other end with a bolt and a chain keeper. Also I have a pic of the chain going down to the mower deck. If that is wrong please let me know. It should be right above the previous pic, Farmall Super A - Belly Mower Chains. I have no idea what it should be, or if its out of adjustment. Please Help.

The chain looks right in you"re picture, when you hooked up the chain, was the arm of the hydraulic unit in the lowest position towards the rear of the tractor, or are you getting the full travel distance of the arm, either one would limit how much the mower gets picked up, I can pick mine up more than 6 inches and have slack in the chain when the arm is in the lowest position.

Gonoles,
The flat bar that your lift chain fastens to and that fits into your rock shaft is too short!
It should be about twice as long as it is. I have an extra one that I could photograph tomorrow if that would help? After you get it right, you must be careful that the bolt holding the chain does not rub the steering shaft or the GAS TANK. Make sure to follow Wood"s suggestion that the front of the mower runs a little lower than the back. !/2-3/4" ??. I am on my second L59 on my 52 Super A, 31 Years of mowing. I have replaced everything at least once. [email protected]

I would say the bracket is backwards it should be pointed forwards thats the way ive seen them on the SA and SCs

Take the chain loose and make sure you have the full range in the touch control arms, otherwise you have a hydraulic problem. If you are familiar with the tractor you already know that. Also make sure the stops for the TC levers (if any) are in the correct positions. Attach the chain with the deck at the height you want to cut with the arm in the lowest position. If you do all that the deck has no choice but to raise all the way, no matter what you have bolted to the arm. Woods has the proper attachments but they really aren't neccessary. Also the manual says the chains should be attached to the front hooks on the deck, not the rear as you have it-- may not make much difference, but it will allow the front to lift higher. Go to Woods web site and download the operators manual. All parts are still available.
