656 hydraulic fluid change

Drained fluid on our 656 & was wondering if the plate under the seat should be removed & the reservoir cleaned. Tractor doesn't have a 3 pt. so is there any fluid in that reservoir? Fluid has been changed many times but have never taken that plate off. Would appreciate any response.

Thanks

Probably too late but my 2606 has the same setup with no 3 point. That rockshaft housing had a plug that kept it almost full of fluid. I removed it so it only held a few inches in the bottom. I found a layer of sludge in the bottom of mine.

Ours was full of fluid too w/sludge at the bottom. If you removed the plug does that mean little or no fluid will be pumped into the reservoir when using hydraulics. Maybe leaving the plug loose so the condensation will drip out would work. That's what we are doing w/the main drain plug under the draw bar but only when tractor is not in use. The tractor has a loader so it's tough to get the water out of the system short of a flush & taking the hoses off & blowing air through them. We haven't put the cover back yet because it needs a new gasket & we broke 3 bolts taking it off so they have to be drilled & tapped. Guess that was the first time it was removed. Our old 800 case never gets moisture in the hydraulic system. That's the worst thing about our 656. Thanks for your reply bc.
