Loader cylinder kit?

My friend bought an H with a #30 loader on it. I think that's what is it--the kind flip/flops when it's raised. It won't lift much and won't stay up. I assume the cylinders need reconditioning? Are there still kits for these things?

Thanks!

Cylinders that leak down and do not show oil on the outside are usually double acting cylinders that have a return/reservoir hose hooked to the top of the cylinders. If it is single acting, (no down pressure) and lowering, and no top of cylinder hose, and not leaking out the top, it is probably the pump, or valving. the failure to lift is also an indicator of pump issues. What cylinders are on it. Which type of pump, and which valve? Jim

I believe, I've read on here that kits are not available. However, I also think the cylinder cup is leather so you might be able to make a satisfactory one. I would take the cylinder apart and check the cup. I also have a #30 loader that needs the cylinders reconditioned but haven't got it done. Be interested in finding out what you find.

Someone here probably has a better answer that will help.

The cylinders on the #30 and #31 loaders are not double acting cylinders, but they DO have 2 hoses. One at the rear, and one at the front. The front portion of the cylinders serves as a reservoir to increase the capacity of the belly pump. As the loader is being raised, the oil in the front portion is pushed out, through the hoses which are connected to a "tee" fitting installed on the belly pump fill pipe.

Yes, it is possible for the hydraulic oil to leak past the pistons and seals inside the cylinder and never appear as a leak on the outside.

Just bought two cup seals for my loader yesterday,2 5/8 poly not leather $57.00 ouch! The last ones i intalled about 15 years ago were leather and cost about 12 dollars per set, they are no longer available according to my supplier.

I got the parts for my #31 loader directly from CIH a couple of years ago. I think it cost me $60 +/- per cylinder for the cups and the seals that go around the rods.
