I have seen pictures and heard about the 1,000,000th Farmall with was a Farmall M. I was wondering if anyone knows the year or serial number.

Is this the picture you are talking about? It is in the "vintage ads" section of YT.

Here is a quote from Tom Graham:
"According to the Jan 2003 issue of Harvester Highlights, the one millionth Farmall rolled of the line in Rock Island at 11:12 AM, Monday, April 30, 1951. This M had a special "1,000,000th" number painted on the hood. The assembly line stopped for seven minutes, to celebrate this feat, and also the 25th anniversary of the Rock Island plant. The tractor was sold to Clint Thomas of Mineral Illinois, who owned it till the 1960's, and is now owned, with the original painting on the hood, by a collector somewhere in the upper midwest. Wish I could see it."

I hope you find what you are looking for, SF

Does anyone know the s/n of the tractor as I have an April 1951 Farmall M as well and would be interested on how many were between the two. My April 1951 M has several "U" cast codes before they switched to "W" for 1951. I believe I read where the "V" was never used and skipped over while the "U" was only used in early 1951 for a few weeks, Hal.

It shows the one millionth as built in 1947, no serial info yet.

Do you lad realise that is 60 years ago tomorrow. The next day our tractor club is celebrating our 40th birthday. The club is the Nottinghamshire group of the National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club here in the UK and I am Chairman and founder member of the club. MJ

In 1947, between October 18 and November 2, an exposition was held to celebrate "Harvester's 100 Years in Chicago".
A special Chicago anniversary issue of "International Harvester World", of which I have a copy, was published in December to cover the various events and displays that were held during the exhibition.
Among the displays was a Farmall M, behind which is a large sign- "The Millionth Farmall Tractor".
There are no details as to when it came off the assembly line or it's Serial Number.
Thought this may be of interest. Sid.
