Nope. Basically Displacement ( more specifically, bore size) is the difference. My understanding is that most parts, except pistons, sleeves, and rings will go between them, though. A 450D block will drop right in where super MD block was, and vice versa.
 
Blocks are the same size with the sleeves removed, you will find lots of SMD engines with 4-1/8 bore pistons already installed. If you want to be picky there is small upgrades to the blocks. SMD started out with a block cast # ending in R1, 450 was up to R5 ending.
